Mike and I grew up together in Skokie. We were friends from 5th grade through High School. When I was 20 I went into the service and we lost contact. Years later we reconnected and resumed our friendship. I have many memories from our childhood in Skokie. Playing football and shooting pool in Mike Stein's basement are a few. I always appreciated Mike's sense of humor. He was also a great story teller. I really enjoyed his company. In later years we would arrange to meet for Lunch usually at Gulliver's, in Chicago, for pizza. Mike claimed that Gulliver's had the best pizza. We would have good discussions, talking about the past and sharing stories about our families.
I don't have many close friends, but Mike was surly one of them. I will miss my friend very much. My thoughts go out to Judy, Rebecca and Melissa and their families.
