OBITUARY

Anna Straus, nee Fuchs, 96

Beloved wife of the late Eli. Devoted mother of Martin (Mercedes) Straus and Beverly Straus (Sid Goldberg). Proud grandmother of Steven Linde, Aaron (Delna), Shayna, Sarah and the late Adam R. Straus. Cherished great grandmother of Adam D. Straus. Dear sister of the late Hershel, Leib, and Machla Singer all of whom did not survive the Holocaust. Anna survived both Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen Death Camps. After arriving in the US in 1949, Anna overcame her tragic experience as she selflessly devoted herself by working in and out of the home to support her husband and to bring up her children while never losing her faith in the Almighty, in spite of her difficult past. We will very much miss her oft repeated refrain of "Gam Zoo L'Tovah" (This Too Is For The Good) as a response to any adverse circumstance that presented itself. She will always remain as a source of inspiration and as a role model on how to overcome adversity for all of us. Anna's bright smile and twinkling eye will sorely be missed. Graveside service Tuesday 10AM at Waldheim Jewish Cemetery, gate 300, 18th and Harlem, Forest Park. Memorials in her memory to Adam R. Straus Memorial Mikvah c/o Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel Congregation 540 W. Melrose Street, Chicago, IL 60657 would be appreciated. Beverly & Marty and family. So very sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I so enjoyed the many conversations we had over the years. Her inspiration and her take on life was nothing but amazing. Anna's accent was so very cute and I will always remember her.
