OBITUARY

Carole A. Pohn nee Levant, the octogenarian whose Instagram bio correctly described her as "Interested in everything" passed away Saturday afternoon after a long battle with multiple health issues. The lifelong Chicagoan was a recognized artist and in mid-life began a long, successful career as a photo stylist for scores of local and national print and film ads. Her life was filled with art, music, film, architecture, lifelong friends and family. The Lincoln Park resident was the daughter of Ben and Estelle Pohn and sister to Robert and Mac Pohn. Carole was the proud parent of five children, Brian, "Guffy", Robert, Andy and Jennifer Levant. Carole was deeply involved in the lives of her fourteen grandchildren, Ben, Logan, Aaron, Keanan, Kate, Megan, Emily, Taylor, Jet, Isabel, Jake and Ivan Levant and Charlotte and Leo Pellegrini and was a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Following a private burial, there will be a celebration of her life Thursday, 2:30 pm at Chicago Jewish Funerals located at 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road), Skokie Illinois. A reception will follow immediately on site. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to PAWS Chicago, animal rescue, 1997 N. Clybourn Chicago, Il., 60614. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com

Carole was truly a firecracker! I have been a neighbor to Carole for 22 years. Fondest memories are her at our annual BBQ where every year she would gossip about the entire neighborhood! She will be truly missed around Slingerland.

Iâ??m so sorry to read this news. Growing up in Highland Park in the 1960s, I remember Brianâ??s Mom as one of the first â??liberated womenâ? Iâ??d encountered. I know her love of life and all itâ??s beauty and wonder will live on through her children and grandchildren.
