Jewel Rosenthal Fishkin
Jewel Ann Fishkin (nee Rosenthal), beloved wife of the late Dr. Martin Fishkin. Proud mother of Ned Fishkin, Scott & Rhonda Fishkin of Chicago and Buffalo Grove, Holly and Steven Shenitzer of Tucson, AZ. Devoted Grandmother to Ilana (Jeremy) Rothstein, Jason (Jill) Shenitzer, Michael (fiancé Kelly Fletcher), Jordan Fishkin and Daniel (Jackie) Fishkin. Great grandmother of Mia Fishkin. Dear sister of Meryl (the late Stanley Orlin) of Denver, CO. Sister-in-law of Charlotte (the late Alfred Gore and Dr. Matthew Steiner) the late Rahelen and Maxwell Skenazy and the late Ethel and Dr. Irving Schuman. Daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Horwitz) Rosenthal. Past Women’s Chairman of State of Israel Bonds, Honorary Board Member of JUF Response Center, Past Board Member of Women’s Division JUF, Silver (Golden) Circle JUF, Life Member of Hadassah, ORT, JNF, HIAS, Mogan David Adom and Weizman Institute. Member of Temple Beth El Northbrook, IL for over 50 years. Charter member of Illinois Jewish Genealogical Society, Family Historian of Horwitz, Rosenthal, Shore, Goldman, Fishkin and Caplan Family Trees. Cousin to many family members all over the world. Known as the "Idea" person. Jewel named the First Genealogical Seminar of Illinois - Routes to Roots. A world traveler she and her husband traveled around the globe and she continued traveling for many, many years! Born in Chicago on October 8, 1922, long time friend of many. Jewel wintered in Tucson for many years and became a full time resident almost five years ago but cherished her City of Chicago. Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 27, 11AM at Westlawn Cemetery (Section Evergreen), 7801 West Montrose, Norridge, IL.
